The check out scheduler performs duties related to scheduling and rescheduling of patient appointments and diagnostics. He/she must understand cardiovascular medical terminology to ensure proper appointment is being made. He/she is responsible for retrieving orders generated post appointment from EHR and scheduling all patient appointments and diagnostic studies for provider as patient is checking out from appt. It is this persons responsibility to print education material out for patient and to ensure they understand this material. He/she must understand and be able to follow the written protocols for orders that are bundled with procedures that are not generated by the provider. He/she must ensure the patient is aware of the status of the Rx (e-prescribed, faxed or printed). The scheduler must print orders for the patient for any diagnostic testing and ensure the diagnosis is a covered diagnosis. He/she must make sure that all "patient tickets" have all the requirements included on them to meet "meaningful use". He/she is to contact pre-admissions, cath lab and/or house supervisor to schedule patients for procedures. The scheduler must task the orders facilitator through the EHR system to ensure all records and orders are faxed to the hospital. He/she must make sure that procedures are tasked to precert and the financial counselors to ensure proper reimbursement. He/she must be able to cover the phone schedulers as needed and other duties as assigned.
High School diploma Previous scheduling experience is preferred.
CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
